Raptes Dimitri - Aristotle

Dr Dimitri - Aristotle Raptis was born in London, and is currently a research associate in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the University College Hospital in London. He has been awarded an an MSc in Healthcare Research Methods, with distinction, at the Queen Mary's University in London. He has a strong research interest with 15 published original articles and over 20 oral and poster presentations in international conferences. He is the first author of 2 books, the first providing guidance to surgical trainees on how to create their own home based laparoscopic video box trainer and the second dealing with the matter of Emergency Surgery Services in Britain (Publication year, 2008). Having adopted a flexible, socio-contructivist and multimodal approach to learning in the context of his medical students’ teaching, he has received the award of "Top Teacher" from University College London voted by medical students. Dr Raptis is familiar with ICT use both as a professional user as well as a developer of various software programs for managing organizational and research problems at work. Among others, he has organized official meetings with parents and children of various topics including the issue of drugs and addiction and developed a hypermedia presentation for this purpose. He is also director of BioStatIT LTD, a bio-statitistics and medical informatics company based in London, and has also been participated in some administrational work (Junior Secretary of the Hellenic Medical Society – UK (HMS), Vice Editor of the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASIT) Yearbook and member of the ASIT committee, Vice President and founder of the UCL Research Society (URS) which encourages junior doctors to perform research and publish their work).
