Ο Απόστολος Μανώλης διεδραμάτισε ενεργό ρόλο στη ζωή της Ορθοδόξου Εκκλησίας της Αμερικής για περισσότερα από πενήντα χρόνια, σε τοπικό, επισκοπικό, εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο. Για τις υπηρεσίες του προς την Εκκλησία ονομάσθηκε «Μέγας Άρχων του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου» από τον Πατριάρχη Αθηναγόρα, τιμήθηκε με τον Χρυσού Σταυρό του Αγίου Όρους από το Οικουμενικό Πατριαρχείο, ως Ιππότης του Πατριαρχείου Ιεροσολύμων, καθώς και με το Μετάλλιο του Αποστόλου Παύλου από την Εκκλησία της Αμερικής.
Εξελέγη για πρώτη φορά το 1956 στο Μικτό Συμβούλιο (Αρχιεπισκοπικό Συμβούλιο) και υπηρέτησε στο εν λόγω σώμα για πολλά χρόνια. Υπήρξε ο Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής, η οποία ίδρυσε την εφημερίδα της Αρχιεπισκοπής Ορθόδοξος Παρατηρητής, πρόεδρος της επιτροπής, η οποία ανήγειρε τον ανδριάντα του Πατριάρχου Αθηναγόρα στη Θεολογική Σχολή του Τιμίου Σταυρού. Εξάλλου, υπηρέτησε και σε πολλά άλλα αντιπροσωπευτικά όργανα του Ελληνισμού της Αμερικής. Είναι ένα από τα ιδρυτικά μέλη του Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute στο University of California στο Berkeley, και υπηρέτησε ως Διευθυντής και Πρόεδρος του εν λόγω Ινστιτούτου για πολλά χρόνια. Επίσης είναι Καθηγητής στο GTU. Είναι απόφοιτος του University of California (Berkeley), και ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του στο Harvard University, απ’ όπου ορίσθηκε εταίρος στο Dumbarton Oaks Institute of Byzantine Studies. Έχει συγγράψει πολυάριθμες μελέτες σχετικές προς την Εκκλησία της Αμερικής και τον Αμερικανικό Ελληνισμό.
Paul Manolis has taken an active part in the life of the Orthodox Church in America for more than fifty years, on the local, diocesan, national, and international level. For his services to the church he was named a "Great Archon of the Ecumenical Partiarchate" by Patriarch Athenagoras, awarded the Gold Cross of Mount Athos by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, a Knight Coccander of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and the Medal of St. Paul from the Greek Archdiocese of America. He was first elected to the Mikto Sumboulio (Archdiocesan Council) in 1956 and he server on that body for many years. He was chairman of he committee than created the Orthodox Observer newspaper for the Archdiocese, chairman of the committee which raised the statue of Patriarch Athenagoras at Hellenic College/Holy Cross School of Theology, served on committees for charter revision of the Archdiocese, and is a representative of the Greek Archdiocese to the National Council of Churches of America. He is one of the founders of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute at the Graduate Theological Union and the University of California at Berkeley, and has served as Director and President of the Institute for many years. He also serves as Adjunct Professor at the GTU. He is a graduate of the University of California (Berkeley), and completed his grafuate studies at Harvard University, from where he was appointed a Junior Fellow at the Dumbarton Oaks Institute of Byzantine Studies. He is the author of numerous studies regarding the Church of America and American Hellenism.
Together with his wife, Elene (Zahas), he resides in Piedmont, California. He is the father of four children, Alexandra, George, Damian, and Dimitri (deceased) and the grandfather of seven grandchildren.
